Goals of the Field of Dreams Conference

  1. To provide information about all aspects of the mathematical sciences professions to students who wish to pursue doctoral studies in these fields;

  2. To provide opportunities to these students, including information about summer research programs and opportunities at the NSF-funded Mathematical Sciences Institutes;

  3. To facilitate appropriate placement of Alliance students in graduate programs;

  4. To provide professional development in mentoring and cultural competence for our Alliance faculty;

  5. To bring the Alliance community together to discuss future growth, policy issues;

  6. To serve as a clearinghouse for employment opportunities for new Alliance Ph.D.s.

These goals are achieved through a series of panels, fairs, plenary talks, and informal discussions. The agenda for the last in-person Field of Dreams Conference in 2019 can be found at the conference website (PDF), and videos from past conferences (and other Math Alliance activities) can be found at our YouTube channel.
